Business heating up in summer? Digital marketing tips for your busiest times

Updated: Jul 17, 2019

It’s almost officially summer in Seattle (we have to wait until the day after the Fourth of July). For some small businesses the season means more in-store traffic, more appointments, or a boost in online sales. But just because you’re busy doesn’t mean you should take a break from digital marketing.

In fact, there are some great ways to take advantage of your busiest times and boost your digital marketing.

1. Create summer-related content

Keep up with seasonal changes in your customers’ preferences. You can use the Google Ads Keyword Planner to see what your target market is searching for during summer and create content to match.

And weather isn’t the only thing that should be bright and sunny. Content and updates that provide a bright and sunny mood will be more likely to drive clicks from your customers during summer.

2. Update your hours

If you adjusted your hours for summer or plan to do so, then make sure you update your business listings on Google and any other sites like Yelp. For Google, a My Business account provides an easy way to enter and update your hours. It’s also a great idea to communicate this information with your customers on social media. Be creative and think of a good photo or video that you can post that will be more noticeable—and more likeable—than just text.

3. Ask for reviews

Lots of happy customers can mean more opportunities for positive reviews. Be sure to ask customers to review your business whenever possible. If you don’t always have time to ask then create some signage for your checkout counter or for your entrance/exit so customers will be reminded as they leave your business.

4. Take photos

Summer in Seattle means late sunsets. All that daylight gives you plenty of opportunities to take great photos that you can use immediately or save for content or posts during winter. If your much busier in summer than in winter then summer photos are a great way to show off your popularity year-round.
